Securing VPS to host joomla part 2

Hi,
I'm having something very abnormal happening with my server, tried the operation all over 3 times:

I install the same application (joomla 1.5) from fantastico, one works and the other one not.
I terminated and recreated each account each time
on www.reggaecollective install is ok each time
on www.securehotelbooking install is not ok each time and javascript menus don't work

I also have a ticket opened for very peculiar happenings with different urls in opened ticket [#RAJ-568904] and issue could be related

I'm not sure how that is possible... of course I already cleared computer's files/cookies, rebooted, tried on different machines before I called on support

Thanks if you can help

Hi,

Javascript has to be enabled on a per-account basis, have you done this?
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do.

Thanks,

hi,
well... no I didn't... actually never had to... it's the first time I hear that...
I say it's a javascript error because somebody told me so, sorry... I'm actually not sure what the error is, please see attachement
regardless...
both accounts are setup exactly the same way, only securehotelbooking is giving me problems...Kindly
Matthieu

Hi,

What is the exact file extension that is having problems loading.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do.

hi,
I'm sorry, I don't mean to ask you to check my install... the only info I have now is what you can see in the attached file in my previous post...

I'm clicking on one of the buttons of the top right toolbar, some function work such as unpublish, but others don't... so it's not a problem with the menu...

my worry is why I get 2 different installs with the same errors 3 times in a row, from account termination to joomla 1.5 complete install by fantastico
**remark: securehotelbooking which is giving problem now was seccessfully installed yesterday and all was good. today I found it offline and after I ran chmod 755folders 644files it came back online... but now it's giving problem even after account termination 3 times... isn't that strange?

Kindly

Hi,

For certain java applications you will need the tomcat JSP runtime server. You do not have this installed on your VPS. We can do this for you for a $50 one time fee.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do.

Thanks,

i installed successfully joomla 1.5 at least 10 times on several other websites successfully using the same way, the same settings.
why only this one doesnt' work?

and it worked yesterday

Hi,

Can you double check and make sure all the settings were the same? It seems that beyond that, you will need to contact joomla directly. If it's working in other instances on the server, then it must be a scripting error.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do.

Thanks,

Hi,
This is most disturbing...
Settings were the same since I terminated account and recreated account on both sides, several times.

issue can't be with script because it's all installed the same with fantastico but doesn't work only with 1 domain.

issue must be on server side... has to be...

I'll go through the same procedure again and let you know, plz dont' give up on me

Kindly

Hello,

Okay, once you do so, just let us know which domain is still not working, along with the exact error, and we can check further for you.

Thanks.

hi, I did the process again, remove account securehotelbooking.com, re-create it, install joomla 1.5 and I get the same error at the end.

same thing on reggaecollective.com works ok... no problem with fantastico install...
problem is on securehotelbooking.com only...

I'm having other problems with other websites which open normally from your country, could issues be related? maybe securehotelbooking's joomla is working for you...

please go to securehotelbooking.com/administrator, login with hotelboo/temppass, go to menus/main menu* and click on the "new" button (to make new menu item)

that same button works on same install on other domain name... just not for that one... but maybe it works for you

Kindly

Hello,

The errors you're seeing appear to be either issues in Joomla (or possibly in IE if IE doesn't handle JavaScript properly). You should check with the Joomla developers first: these sorts of errors aren't server-related.

Hello,

"/scripts/upcp"

This is the cPanel update cron. It means your cPanel was updated, which is done daily.

Thanks!

Hi

I've tried browsing a bit trough those Joomla sites you've provided and had no problems whatsoever.

Can you give me exact problem that you are experiencing? And please be as descriptive as you can.

hi,
I think this ticket should be merged with [#RAJ-568904]
problem appears to be very much linked, at list for the timing
joomla worked earlier and died off again...

if you want to see what I saw, please login www.securehotelbooking.com/administrator user: hotelboo pass: temppass, then go to menu/main menu* (from top left menu) and click "new" (on the top right menu)
from here it doesn't work

Kindly

hi,
I clear browser regularly and reboot too...
...
can some dns or mx settings disturb the execution of certain scripts in certain regions?

because it's not all bad everywhere at the same time... I'm not certain for now for tunisia is ok and switzerland is offline, but yesterday these errors were reported from several continents while it was all good for you.

it's just always bad here in cambodia... but there are consistencies in the errors... and we got a pretty good satellite connection from here... and all other websites are good, including my own... I have problem only with 4urls out of 15

For sure I must be on the case until I find a suitable solution and I'd understand if you tell me that there's nothing HFW can do

What do you recommend I do on my side?

Kindly

Hi,

you should contact that script developer for possible reasons for this, as there are no server side issues that could explain this.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
